Smiling Mind is a not-for-profit organisation from Australia that works to make mindfulness meditation available to all. Their Smiling Mind app has reached more than 1.5 million people worldwide. The app is available on both IOS and Android for free! You can try a five-minute meditation online here.
When you use the app, it will ask you to rate your happiness, contentment, and alertness before you begin a meditation. At the end, you will rate them again. Practicing mindfulness for as little as five minutes a day is enough to begin to feel the benefits but the app also includes a one-minute exercise that can be used if you can’t spare more time. The app is flexible, with guided meditations for adults, teens, and children as young as seven.
More than 18,000 educators use Smiling Mind programs in their schools with at least one million students. One of the Smiling Mind goals is to see mindfulness meditation on the Australian National Curriculum by 2020.
